What is stevia? A sugar substitute from a green plant. Stevia has no calories!

Stevia is a very unique food precisely because of what it DOES NOT do. It adds no calories! Hooray! Stevia is completely natural, unlike other sugar substitutes. It is made from the leaf of a plant related to chrysanthemums. It has been used in South America for thousands of years. Stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar. Aiiiii so sweet! Stevia is used in almost all Nick’s products because it tastes great and minimally affects blood sugar levels.

What is erythritol?
Sweetness from plums and pears. Minimally affects your blood sugar.

Sweet taste from plums and pears. Affects blood sugar very little!

Erythritol, or sugar alcohol. It naturally occurs in pears and plums. Tastes sweet and almost like real sugar!!! Erythritol has no calories and does not affect blood sugar levels. Technically it is a carbohydrate, but they are called polyols!

What is sweet fiber?
Sweet fiber derived from corn. Don't worry, no GMOs! CORNYLICIOUS!

Sweet fiber is a multifaceted nutrient that replaces sugar, fat, and calories. Nick’s also uses stevia in its products, which is much sweeter than regular sugar, so you don't need to use as much, and that gap needs to be filled with something. Sweet fiber is a filler and stabilizer in products and helps maintain ideal moisture levels. Using polydextrose in our products helps keep your stomach fuller longer and has no effect on blood sugar levels.

What is xylitol?
Xylitol, or natural birch sugar. It comes from trees. Where monkeys live!

The word Xylitol comes from the Greek "xylo", meaning "wood", and "itol", which refers to sugar alcohol. Maybe you already put those two parts together. Yes, it really is birch sugar. From trees, pretty cool, right! :) Xylitol is harvested from birch trees or corn cobs. It is used as a natural sugar substitute because it replaces sugar one-to-one in sweetness. It does not affect blood sugar or insulin levels. As a bonus, it has 40% fewer calories than sugar. Win win!
