Laura Lokotar - Achievement lies in effort
Share
Multiple Estonian and Baltic champion in athletics.
I have been doing athletics for 10 years. Before that, I was involved in tennis and dancing, for example. More specifically, I compete in pentathlon and heptathlon. I like it because it is exciting and interesting—you get to engage in different disciplines. My favorite athletics events are high jump, long jump, and hurdles.
I am a multiple Estonian and Baltic champion. I got into athletics thanks to my tennis coach, who thought I could develop my speed and strength there. In the meantime, I was involved in both athletics and tennis, but then I smoothly transitioned to only athletics. Additionally, my mother has also been involved in athletics (that's where part of my interest in trying it came from).
At first, my goal was to beat her records - that happened quickly. At the start, I was rather at the back of the rankings in competitions, but I did not give up and worked hard to get to where I am now - I am very proud of that.
Doing athletics has given me a lot of self-confidence, persistence, and many new cool acquaintances!
About Laura's nutrition
There are many opinions that healthy eating means a boring and monotonous diet and giving up your favorite foods - but that is not the case! In fact, it means eating a varied diet and exactly as much as your body currently needs.
I would like to point out some interesting and surprising myths about nutrition that are actually not true.
- Fats are harmful and should not be eaten at all - in fact, fats are very necessary for the normal functioning of the human body
- Quark is healthy and you can eat as much of it as you want - everything should be eaten in moderation and the diversity of the diet should be monitored
- You can lose excess weight in the sauna - weight is regained later by drinking fluids
Speaking from my own experience, I usually try to choose the healthier option. But there have also been times when the food was rather unhealthy and monotonous for several days in a row. I have never banned or restricted eating any food, but try to eat everything in reasonable amounts.
I know that many try different diets to improve their nutrition and lose weight. I myself have not tried any such diet. But at one point, just out of curiosity, I recorded all the foods I ate and the calories I got from them. It was quite interesting and gave a good overview of my diet. Thanks to that, I was able to make some adjustments to get all the necessary nutrients and vitamins from food.
Being used to a fast pace of life myself, Nick's protein bars are ideal companions, whether between lectures or before/after training. But it is important to note here that they do not replace a large meal, but are simply a tasty snack. Their bars are really very tasty, mimicking other well-known chocolates, and as a bonus, no sugars or palm oil have been added - a win-win situation.
I have tried many different bars, but Nick's ones have turned out to be my favorite especially because of their taste (when eating them you don't taste the protein aftertaste that many other bars have)!
So eat a varied diet and stay active, that way your body will be happy and satisfied!
